The Hindu festival of Mahashivaratri is celebrated on the 14th day of the dark fortnight of the Magh month, as per the Hindu lunar calendar. Maha Shivaratri literally means \u2018the night (ratri) of the Supreme God principle (Shiva)\u2019.Lord Shiva is considered as the soul of everything. The lord represents truth, peace, beauty, and infinity, the essence of our soul as well. Hence, it is said that when we worship Lord Shiva, we recognize dwell in these higher qualities within ourselves \u2014 a connection with oneself.\u00a0<\/p>

Mahashivratri is a day of Lord Shiva \u2014 a day we connect with the lord and thus ourselves. Worshipping Lord Shiva this day bestows one with happiness and prosperity.
